Applied Behavior Analysis
Our goal in working with your child is to increase their ability to function independently
ABA for Problem Behavior
We are experts in working with children and adolescents with behavior difficulties, including hyperactivity, inattention (including problems staying focused at school), self-injurious behavior, aggression, restricted and repetitive behavior, and general tantrumming behavior. Throughout assessment and treatment, we use a collaborative framework to work with you and other family members to create goals and treatment plans based on your and your child's needs.
ABA to Increase Adaptive Functioning
One of the questions parents ask us is, "how do I help my child be more independent?" Through assessment and collaborative planning, we will create and carryout a treatment plan to help your child become independent in the areas that matter to you and your child.
Parent Coaching from a Behavior Analytic Framework
When implementing treatment with your child, we seek to determine what your values as a parent are and how we can support you with your goals in mind. Using this as the foundation for our work allows us to collaborate and explore all the ways your child is experiencing difficulty. It also allows us to assess what is working and what is not working within your child’s world.
Parent support can take place in the office or in the home. Although we love seeing parents in our office, sometimes it can be helpful to provide in vivo support and consultation in the setting in which the behaviors naturally occur.
Assessment/Evaluation
We conduct evaluations for learning disabilities, behavior problems, and social/emotional issues you child may be experiencing. The evaluation process allows us to dig deeper into the specific difficulties your child is struggling with. At Bridges, we engage in evidence-based assessment practices, include interviews, observations, in-office testing, rating scales, or testing of your child’s behavior in different environments. We view treatment as an extension of the assessment process and we will work with you to determine the type and nature of the assessment practice that will meet your child’s needs.
School Consultation
When students have difficulty in schools, parents and educators sometimes have difficulty agreeing on evaluation outcomes or intervention plans. This can frustrate parents and make it seem like their child may not receive the support they need. Through collaborative problem-solving and intervention planning for your child’s unique behavioral and learning needs, we can help facilitate a conversation about what can be most effective for your child. This may include support to conduct functional behavior assessments, psycho-educational assessments, and consulting with schools around behavioral interventions for your child.
Cogntive Behavioral Therapy
When your child is experiencing difficulties that impede their ability to work to their potential, CBT can help. The therapeutic work we do helps improve symptoms related to anxiety and depression. During CBT sessions, we give your child the tools to feel better. The goal is to target inaccurate or negative thinking so your child can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.
